Morgan Run Club Resort

I visited this restaurant for a family event and found the venue to be perfect, with exceptional staff who made everything run smoothly. However, my overall rating is heavily influenced by my experience with the lodging. The rooms had a musty odor, and we encountered persistent toilet issues. The most troubling part was the bed bug problem; despite having a large family gathering with several rooms booked, numerous family members found bed bugs and even ended up sleeping in their cars after a night of festivities. Unfortunately, it was too late in the evening and too far from another hotel to switch accommodations. I personally stayed in room #109 and requested fumigation before allowing anyone else to use it. After returning home, I had to treat all my luggage and my living space for pests. I’ve reached out via email for assistance but have yet to receive a response. While the venue and staff were fantastic for our event, I would advise extreme caution regarding the rooms. The food and drink service was excellent, but the lodging experience was disappointing.

As for walkability, there wasn't much around. The only place to go was the on-site bar, which I wasn't even aware of until it was time to check out.

Noise was a constant problem, with large trucks and golf carts passing by at all hours. To top it off, we discovered someone else's contact lens in our sheets, raising concerns about the cleanliness of the bedding. The internet service was barely functional in the rooms. Additionally, prepare for hidden costs; they charge extra for almost everything, including breakfast, events, gym access ($20 per day), and even movie rentals. Unless you absolutely need to stay right next to the golf course, I would recommend avoiding this place.

If you choose to stay here, be aware that hotel guests are not their top priority. Special events, board members, and golfers take over the limited hotel parking, leaving little room for those who are actually paying guests. On Sunday afternoon, the only available spot was one reserved for their Board Chair, which we used after informing the front desk that there would be no issue. However, we later found a WARNING ticket on our car! The rooms are as others have described: adequate but with stained carpets and a dirty, tiny patio. During our four-night stay, we only requested maid service once, and we still had to ask for shampoo and other toiletries to be replenished. The rates were quite reasonable for summer in Del Mar.

We've stayed at this location a few times now. It’s conveniently located not far from the freeway, yet it’s tucked away enough to offer a peaceful, vacation-like atmosphere. The property features a golf course and tennis courts with beautiful views, so be sure to request a room that overlooks the course if you can. The rooms are clean, and the air conditioning works wonderfully.
