We had both breakfast and dinner and had no complaints about anything. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and there was a great selection of food for both meals.
The service at the restaurant was extremely poor. Despite pre-booking our afternoon tea in advance, we had to wait for 40 minutes. Other customers who arrived after us were served before us and received excellent service with regular check backs, which we did not experience. Our requests were ignored and our table was not checked on. After serving us our afternoon tea, the staff did not return to our table and we had to approach the reception to ask for more water. It is worth noting that we were the only people of color present at the time. I am deeply disappointed with the level of service we received and expected better from a establishment like Guisborough Hall. We left feeling singled out and this greatly impacted our overall experience.
We ate here while staying at Gisborough Hall and it was the highlight of the stay. There was a great buffet spread and good cooked options at breakfast. The dinner was reasonably priced, imaginative and very tasty. Would recommend.
During our stay at the hotel, we decided to dine at the restaurant. The head waiter was very attentive and provided excellent service. He truly added to our dining experience at this establishment. The food was outstanding, with perfectly cooked and beautifully presented dishes. We sampled the duck spring roll and ham hock starters, both of which were amazing. Our main courses of monkfish and chicken were equally divine. We ended our meal with liquor coffees in the drawing room. Overall, it was a worthwhile dining experience, although the menu may not change frequently. The restaurant was a bit quiet, likely due to it being a Monday evening and a large birthday party being hosted in a separate room.
Just returned from a lunch hosted at Gisborough Hall. The lunch was in the Long Hull. The table setting and presentation were reminiscent of a begone age of opulence. The three course meal was outstanding. The quality of the food was first class. Staff were friendly but professional and highly trained; Sharon, Wendy and Sarah. A thoroughly enjoyable experience at a brilliant local hotel.
