Bluebell Inn - Retford

I had a fantastic meal at the Bluebell last night. We started by sharing a couple of mini camemberts served with crusty bread and sweet chili jam. Two of us ordered the Lamb demi pie, which was truly a masterpiece. "Demi" refers to the lamb shank that is slow-cooked, then the tender meat is blended with herbs and reformed around the lamb shank bone, all wrapped up in delicious pastry. It was absolutely outstanding! The vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was delightful. The service was friendly and top-notch as well. Kudos to the whole team! Charming pub with a great location and friendly staff, but the food is overpriced and not particularly enjoyable. Overall, I would rate the food a 1, the service a 3, and the atmosphere a 3.

The pub is one of the best I’ve visited as a regular pub-goer. The staff is genuinely lovely and professional, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The food is absolutely exceptional; if you’re looking for hearty fare, this is the place to go. I had the bangers and mash along with mac and cheese, and it was honestly the best I’ve ever tasted.
