This restaurant deserves an extra star for its location, just so you know. Otherwise, I would likely rate it a three. As for the location, we live in the village of Rhinebeck.
I was thrilled to discover this restaurant. It is located right on the Hudson River, right next to the commuter train, making it incredibly convenient.
This place gets one star extra because of its location FYI. otherwise I would probably give it 3. About location: we live in the village of Rhinebeck about a ten minute drive, and I took us months after moving to the area before we checked out this place. We picked up a friend from the train station and thought it a great place to introduce him to the area with a sunset view outside of the river over a cocktail. That was so lovely an experience we decided to book Sunday jazz brunch with my partners parents the next weekend. That was more mediocre. The weather was rainy so we had to sit inside. As a vegan, not much on menu for me but I knew that going in so I won't comment much on my salad. Everyone else's food was pretty good, but when we got the bill, the waitress was clueless. One person in our party got the prix fixe, but she charged for each thing separately. We told her and she tried to fix it in an incomprehensible way that still ended up more than $20. We showed her the menu and it took ten minutes but she could not process how to enter the prix fixe. Finally a manager came over and gave us a bill with the right amounts. Why did it take 15 minutes to just correct a bill when they were not that many other tables? This made an awkward experience so I think we will prefer to go back just for drinks outside on a pleasant day as the view can't be beat. I am sure the rooms are awesome- wish we had an excuse to stay!
After searching for a B&B to stay in, I was so excited to find this place. It's situated right on the Hudson next to the commuter train, so convenient for a weekend trip from NYC if you find yourself carless!! Tricia was so helpful checking us in and making sure we were situated. Her friendly disposition made us feel at home almost immediately. Our room was spacious and well kept. The bathrooms had this awesome whirlpool tub and a great overhead shower. Our TV didn't work but we headed out to watch the Jets game anyway so it didn't matter Much though would have been better had it worked... Devlin was the waiter/ host downstairs in the cafe. He made us a wonderful French press coffee and everything included. He was so friendly and easy going. A must stay if you are in the area or looking for a place to weekend trip !
