I also tried the wild soup, it was great. this place has a serious story (I would like to know more) that is located on the early growth of rheinlander as it is located directly opposite the railway station (not operated) as the gleise was removed about 30 years ago. if they are looking for new and fashionable, this is not the place for them but if they want to go where the locals go, eat like the locals, and enjoy some of the historical ambiente, then the northwests when for them. if you also find out the origin of the name for the Hemlock sandwich, tell me I'm curious to enjoy.
Excellent old-fashioned cocktails to very good trips. the atmosphere brings it back (on the walls! . what is old is new again. a great place to drink before dinner.
One of my favorite places in the Northwoods! Low key, old-fashioned diner with great sandwiches and such friendly service! Sandy is always incredibly friendly and makes the best old fashioned I've ever had. Don't miss this place!
Walked in around 3 PM on a Friday, immediately enjoyed the supper club vibe and retro feeling. Staff was not super welcoming, but friendly. Ordered a brandy Old Fashioned sweet to start, with special of the day, a ribeye steak sandwich and French Onion soup. I also got an order of cheese curds as an appetizer. The wait for the drinks and food was very reasonable. The brandy OF is delicious, one of the best I've had in a long time. I wish the same could be said for the food. The French Onion soup came out first, and was the best part of the meal, in that it was decent. The cheese curds are straight out of a Sysco box, and were barely cooked through. When I got the sandwich, it was just a piece of steak on a roll- no additional ingredients, and more concerning, no flavor. Thankfully the prices were quite reasonable. In summary, come for the drinks, but look elsewhere for food.
Neat small bar/grill, which serves delicious sandwiches and a small selection of tapberries. cozy atmosphere ensures a pleasant culinary experience. they also had weekly trivia competitions that do not have to give stupidies but very funny.
