We were seated in a booth which fit us nicely. The service was exceptional, and our waitress was amazing. She took excellent care of us throughout our meal. I ordered the cod, chips, and mushy peas, which were all good. The peas could have used a bit more salt, but the texture was perfect. I tried brown vinegar for the first time and found that it paired well with the chips. I would definitely return to this restaurant, especially since they offer takeout options. We ordered water and tea, and the total cost came to about 20 pounds each.
Today we had lunch at this restaurant and it was fantastic! The fish and chips were delicious, with fresh fish and crispy batter on the cod. The decor has a retro vibe that brings back nostalgic feelings. The owners and waitress were very welcoming. We will definitely return. Thank you.
I haven't been here for about 20 years so was pleasantly surprised to see it still open. It hasn't changed at all, quite literally. It doesn't give a good impression in terms of decor as it really needs an upgrade so I was a bit concerned about the food we were to receive. We all had cod and chips which I had to say were excellent. The fish wasn't a huge portion, we got one small and two large which were only a pound difference in price and seemed to be identical in size. The fish was lovely and white and had its skin taken off which was nice to see and is not usual in London. The batter was very thin and crisp. The chips were excellent too. The prices were not low but fair for the quality. Like the rest of the place the men's toilet needed work it was rather grotty. One last annoyance was being overcharged, the meal came to £49.50 according to the menu but when I came to pay I was charged £53 without any breakdown of how that figure had been reached. I didn't query it but didn't leave a tip which would have been a larger amount then the overcharge.
Went on Monday 19th June to take advantage of the pensioners special lunch £6.50. The place is so cramped it would be difficult to escape in case of fire. The chips tasted cooked but were white rather than golden brown. The fish was fine. When it came to pay we were told by our server that they don 't take cards for specials Cash only! I wasn 't happy about this and even less happy when I got home and realised none of us had bit given a bill or receipt. My 2 friends and I will never go there again. Janet B Isleworth
Attended with family who got to try fish and chips for the first time they were not disappointed. Clean plates all round at the end. Service always great here and this occasion was no exception. The fish was cooked so order so tasted delicious. Chips cooked just right. Good portion size.
