All we have ordered was fresh, tasty...and piping hot what for me garners additional points as I hate to eat and get your food if it is not hot. The bistro itself is charming, relaxing and full of character. Who designed the dining area has done an absolutely fantastic job. The general store is super sweet and has lots of goodies to take. Recommend the Rose Bay General Store and Bistro!
This restaurant was suggested by friends in the area and it was a good choice. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor seating (covered) and a varied menu, including vegetarian dishes. All four of us chose something else, and... each of us enjoyed our meal very much. The food was nicely prepared and presented. Service was excellent and we didn't feel hurry to go.
The first time after hiking to Rose Bay: a really nice place to eat; the menu has regular and vegetarian / vegan items. My husband had a huge and delicious lobster roll while I was thrilled to have a vegan pizza (many options on the menu for all...Diets). We enjoyed our food very much and our server, Jo, was excellent. The place has a special fun. We also loved shopping in the grocery store with unique articles and a well-stocked Liquor section. We felt like we found a jewel here and will be back!
What a little business! We accepted a recommendation from my brother. We all had the ‘ABC’ sandwich (apple, bacon and cheddar grilled like a grilled cheese). We also came for the famous chocolate chip cookies, but they were sold out. You have an interesting selection of treats for sale as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You have a nice atmosphere. The displays are well made and we enjoyed looking around while we waited for our sandwiches to be grilled. We took our food to Hirtle's beach. BTW, we returned to look for another batch of chocolate chip cookies, but again we missed it. We got 2 pkgs ginger snaps that were beautiful and soft.
We have driven past the Rose Bay General Store and Bistro on many occasions, always noting the number of cars in the parking lot. On this day, it was lunch time, and there wasn't anywhere nearby to eat, so we decided to give it a...try. It is a unique spot...part convenience store, part deli, part liquor store, coffee shop, and bistro. They did have an outdoor eating area open but we elected to eat inside. There are perhaps 1/2 dozen tables, small, cozy. The waitress was friendly, but rushed off her feet it seemed. Menus were delivered, and the explanation their fryer was down, so no fried foods of any kind were offered at this time. They did offer an all day breakfast menu. Hubby was hoping for a sandwich and spotted one in the ready to eat take out case. I decided on breakfast. I ordered the plain French toast, which was 2 slices of French toast, sprinkled with icing sugar and cinnamon, served with maple syrup. It was very tasty. Hubby's cold cut chicken sandwich was okay...the meat was 2 very thin slices of chicken, a slice of cheese and lettuce. We both shared a pot of tea which was served in an elegant porcelain teapot. Dessert we shared a wonderful sticky cinnamon bun...so flaky! The place was bustling. Lines out the door, constant pick up of take out orders, meant the waitress also subbed as cashier, and the cook I believe brought our order to the table. The place seems very popular with locals, nearby workers who can grab a quick meal and be on the go. We would return...would like to try the fish and chips which were not available at this time. I would have the French toast again..but the homemade pizza certainly sounded tempting
