However, there were some downsides: the soy sauce bottle remains unappealing. It would be a good idea to bring some sanitizing wipes along if you can. I enjoy the hot food selections, but unfortunately, EVERYTHING was cold. From the miso soup to everything else I tried, everything was lukewarm at best when served and completely cold by the time it reached my table for my first taste. My favorite cooked dish is the fried squid, but today it was cold, greasy, and soggy—so much so that I suspect it had been leftover from a previous day. There’s no way it was freshly fried within an hour of opening. They also offer salmon cones, which seem to be an attempt to mimic salmon skin hand rolls. I love salmon skin hand rolls and have often been tempted to try these cones, but I’m learning my lesson the hard way. These are filled with a lot of cooked salmon and little else, wrapped in nori within a cone. Biting into one is like drinking grease, with cooked salmon fat oozing out in an unappealing manner. By the end of one bite, the entire cone—including the nori—is drenched in oil, and so is the plate it was served on. It leads to instant indigestion, accompanied by an extremely greasy salmon taste. Given the consistent quality, I should have known better. I strongly suspect that the staff and cooks don’t taste or try these items, which is likely why they seem unaware or indifferent to the poor quality they’re serving. At least I’ll be inclined to visit less often, which will save me some money. Oh, and just a heads up, the seafood shumai is still made with pork, just as it has been since my first visit.
This restaurant offers a wide selection of freshly fried seafood and meat, as well as Chinese steamed buns, siomai, rice dumplings, and meat buns. The quality of the other dishes is comparable to standard buffets in Taiwan. At just $20, the price is similar to what you'd find in Taiwan, making it an excellent value! If you have dietary restrictions, the Angus beef can be stir-fried with vegetables, reminiscent of Mongolian barbecue, and it’s thick and tender. The service is great for dining in!
