My best man and his girlfriend are visiting from California and they commented on how excellent the service was. They appreciated how personable April was and how attentive she was throughout the evening. Dining with food allergies is not always easy, but it definitely was tonight. Now onto the food. We started with 2 appetizers: Bread is life and the brussel sprouts. Both were excellent in flavor, texture, and presentation. We also requested more of the jalapeño butter spread since it is a personal favorite. The jalapeño butter spread has the taste of jalapeño but none of the spice, which is perfect because one of our party members doesn't handle spice. You can bet that she loved the spread. The brussel sprouts has an Asian flavor dressing which fit our taste palate to the T. We got a wide variety of main entrées including the swordfish special, salmon, pork chop special, lamb chop, and hanger steak. We loved all of it, but we especially loved the soft texture and moistness of the food, especially all the fish dishes. The top rated of our group was definitely the swordfish special with gnocchi and yellow coconut curry, which had a nice balance of flavors and textures. For dessert, we got the 50 shades of chocolate, crème brûlée, and the pear sorbet. All of these were excellent with the 50 shades of chocolate being extremely decadent and moist, while the lavender crème brûlée had the perfect balance of floral and creamy flavors. The pear sorbet was definitely more subtle, but acted as a great palate cleanser in-between desserts. The ambience is great and busy but the servers are friendly and attentive despite the popularity. I'm glad I took my California friends here--They definitely enjoyed the food here! Hi Earl I see you writing your review too LOL
Visiting from LA, my friends and took us here to show what Minneapolis can do, and this place DID NOT DISAPPOINT. FOOD: Started off with the bread of life (which it is), asked for the 3 jalapeño honey butter which was delicious: it was the jalapeño flavor without the kick! Had the Brussel sprouts, which the glaze had fish sauce for the extra umami flavor. For entrees, my friends and I did family style ordering the specials of the day including swordfish on top of curry gnocchi and the pork chop on mashed sweet potato. Definitely recommend the gnocchi if they have it. We also ordered the lamb and the hanger steak with chimichurri (medium rare). Steak is solid, lamb crisp was delicious but did not know what to do with the MASSIVE heirloom tomato that was served with the steak. Finally the sea bass and the salmon were surprisingly delectable. I loved the accompanying corn+ mashed side with the salmon, and the sea bass felt so light. The star of the show would have to be the desserts. Four words: 50 shades of chocolate. Decadent chocolate cake covered in chocolate syrup which I can only describe as a moist wonderland in my mouth. lol. Recommend having it with the salted caramel ice cream. The lavender crème brûlée was ALSO a heavy hitter: fragrant and sweet. The special dessert was a PEAR sorbet, which was equally refreshing and light. Btw Jason Pang I love you. For drinks, my girlfriend and I had an white wine Prosecco and an old fashion with old forester, respectively. SERVICE: ASK FOR APRIL. (Pictured) She will be the epitome of midwestern hospitality: giving good banter, kindness and attentiveness to our orders. She was VERY receptive of my girlfriend 's nut allergy. Manager stopped by to check in on us, and even offered the desserts on the house. We had a reservation for 6 well in advance, and they were very accommodating. Bussers were ready to change our AMBIENCE: This is what Yard house WISHES they could be. Dimly lit, private but vibrant with excellent and clean booths. I felt welcomed and relaxed that allowed me to catch up with my best friends. OTHER: There is ample free parking and it 's close to the freeway, UNLIKE LA. OVERALL: I 'd come back if I 'm ever in town it 's a wonderful place to celebrate.
Just go already! Forget that it's by a mall, you won't remember that after walking in. It's classy but welcoming. Emily at the bar was amazing at directing us towards incredible cocktails and sharing her favorites off the menu. Peter was welcoming and laid back making sure we weee enjoying our night and sharing his favorites. I'm a foodie and it's outstanding and a special classy environment, but it's comfortable and confident not stuffy. I can't wait to go back!
I thought this place was a safe, nice place to have dinner, but that was not the case!!! While finishing up dinner , which was sub par at best, a full on fight between staff and customers broke out in the bar area! I'm talking plates, glassware, silverware, and whatever they could grab! The staff did not handle it well and I felt like there would be shooting next!!!!! The staff did not lock doors until after 5 or so minutes after the second round of fighting. There was no apology or any comfort from the wait staff. This place is not a safe environment for anyone and I do not recommend coming here especially if you bring family members that are slow to move or children. I called to speak to the manager, but they were unavailable and I was told I would get a call back , but there was no call!!! Also they couldn't even get my steak right and this is what they do! Super ghetto, not safe, can't get the food properly cooked, and no customer concern. Not cool !!!!!
