Contribuisci feedbackAfter reading many negative reviews I was more than a little apprehensive about our trip, especially as my mother was in a wheelchair... However, our experience of Blue Star was totally different to these comments.. We sailed on the crossing from Pembroke to Rosslare...From the moment we checked in to boarding the ship (on Deck right next to the lift) we were treated with courtesy and respect.. The main deck is Deck with no stop at deck and we were booked into the club lounge where we could have complimentary Red or White Wine, Teas, Coffees, Soft Drinks, Cakes, Smoked Salmon Rolls and other fillings, Biscuits to name but a few ... and was kept restocked throughout the voyage.. Social distancing on the tables and masks worn rules were observed... The outbound lunch menu looked delicious especially the crackling on the belly pork but as we were eating that evening we did not avail ourselves We returned a week later on the sailing from Rosslare, and found the same standard of cleanliness and helpfulness as on the outbound.... The Ship was clean from The Club Class area to the corridors to the restaurant and very comfortable ordinary seating... Yes, the majority of the staff are European, however their English is excellent.. Yes the duty free is small but you can order online in advance.. I would not hesitate to recommend this ship and would willingly travel on it again... I have added photos of the ship so that you can draw your own conclusions
Upon arrival at Lakeside Holiday Home, where we have stayed numerous times before, we encountered some issues. There was still food in the fridge and it made me question if the bed sheets had been changed. Additionally, the electric shower in our room kept cutting out. Despite notifying the cleaner, Heidi, about the issue, it was not properly resolved. After a frustrating stay, I lodged a complaint with Trident Homes and, after some time, they refunded me a total of £146 for my troubles. It was disappointing to see that they seemed to prioritize the well-being of Heidi, the cleaner, over addressing the issues that disrupted our entire week-long stay. It felt like a lack of respect towards me and my family as customers. Although I had never had any problems during previous stays at Lakeside Holiday Home, this experience left a sour taste. It seemed like the cleaner, Heidi, was protected instead of facing any consequences for the problems we encountered. In the end, the poultry refund of £146 from Trident and Irish Ferries did not make up for the disruptions we faced during our holiday. Overall, I was disappointed with the lack of proper response and attention given to the issues we faced during our stay. It felt like the focus was more on protecting the cleaner, Heidi, rather than addressing the problems that impacted our holiday.
The new ship Osca Wilde is fantastic! The club class lounge is top-notch, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy a good selection of snacks, wine, and soft drinks. The duty-free shop is very large and there is even a vending machine for coffee and other goodies. Overall, there is ample room to spread out and enjoy yourself on board.
The Oscar Wilde ferry in Pembroke has very poor design. There are no comfortable seats available anywhere on board. If you want comfort, you will need to pay for a lounge or cabin.
We booked the Rosslare to Pembroke ferry. Got to the port in plenty of time and we’re at the front of our lane. We were on a motorcycle. Nobody else was put into our lane. They kept us and another bike that was waiting at the front of a nearby lane back, saying that motorcycles needed to go on last. But another motorcyclist in a different lane went on the ferry with the cars, so no real organisation there! When we got on the ferry, they gave us a thin rag of cloth to put on the seat for the tie down strap. But as we started tying down the bike (because they left us to it) they brought a coach next to us, so close that they had to stop it or it would have hit the Ultra and asked us to move to an upper deck. On the upper deck there was still no padding to protect the seat they were “on order” and they didn’t want to strap the bikes because they “looked expensive”. So we did it ourselves using a leather jacket for protection. They had the bikes facing the wrong way too for disembarkment luckily I asked and we turned the bike there and then. Three more bikes were sent up to our deck they told one to park in a car spot and he couldn’t strap it down carefully because of the distance between the hook holes so he moved it into the thinner bike space; another was asked if he had his own tie down strap! I was appalled by the disorganisation and carelessness of the company and its staff. I will NEVER travel with Irish Ferries again.
