Additionally, the restaurant was quite busy, with tourists everywhere, which made the staff a bit distracted. This affected the service, which was unfortunate because it was clear they were putting in effort, though they seemed quite exhausted.
Here’s what we ordered: 1) **Produce Platter:** This was very tasty, but the amount of bread provided to pair with everything was insufficient. Personally, I'm not a fan of eating pâté on its own, so we asked for more bread, which they kindly supplied. It seemed we weren't the only diners requesting extra. 4/5 2) **Chips and Aioli:** Nicely hand-cut, with a delicious aioli. 4/5 3) **Citrus Cured Salmon:** A beautifully presented dish, but since I'm not a big fan of cured salmon, I didn't enjoy it as much as the others, who found it delightful. 3/5 4) **Pork Belly:** Quite tasty, although I thought the chorizo flavor was a bit overpowering. 4/5 5) **Eye Fillet:** This was exceptional and cooked to perfection. 5/5 6) **Slow Cooked Duck Pasta:** The flavors were nice, but the pasta was slightly awkward in texture and overcooked. 3/5 7) **Mandarin Brûlée:** A lovely and refreshing dessert that felt very summery. The crust could have been a bit firmer, but it was still enjoyable. 4/5 8) **Poached Pear with Beetroot Chocolate Ice Cream:** The beetroot ice cream was intriguing, but I preferred the crème brûlée over this dessert. 2/5 9) **Blue Cheese:** Though I'm not a big fan of blue cheese, this was fantastic. 5/5 The restaurant’s location was beautiful, and the atmosphere had a casual vibe despite its upscale feel. The service quality varied depending on who was attending to us. My sister-in-law found one waitress to be quite dismissive, but I thought the service we received from our servers was lovely. 4/5 The true highlights of our meal were, of course, the wines. We particularly enjoyed the Pinot Noir, which was a standout at our table, even more so than the food.
More than halfway on our wine tasting road trip we started to become peckish. Such a neat place Jacob's creek vineyard is and we were lucky that they have their restaurant next to the wine tasting station. I had the pulled pork burger with chips. Pretty good. I didn't expect for the mint to go along with all the flavour but it did. Service was good, but ambience is definitely amazing. Love that it was overlooking the vineyard!
The final restaurant we dined was basically an impromptu decision, and it was appropriate I suppose to be ending the Barossa tour with a visit to probably one of the most famous wineries out of the region – Jacobs Creek. The restaurant sits within the Visitor’s Centre and has a big area with a spacious separation between tables – giving you the privacy that you would want.
