This bistro is exactly what you expect. Great food, good service and nice atmosphere. I highly recommend the beef (they have 2 different cuts). It's very tender and tasty.
Greeted by the owner who seated us and checked in to make sure everything was OK.We went for escargot Chez Milot offered escargot two ways we both ordered them both excellent! So tender and tasty!I also ordered the Cesar salad that was delicious and Teramisu for dessert.Very wonderful experience ?
We had a very disappointing meal tonight. It was my birthday, so it's a real shame. The food was not as good as it's been in the past, and our server was not pleasant to deal with. We've gone to Chez Milot in the past for special occasions. I think we'll check out other restaurants in the future.
My family rents a home in Val David for a few days every summer. This trip is primarily for the food available to us that is difficult to find in the Ottawa/Gatineau area where we live. I always remember Chez Milot as being MUSSELL HEAVEN and enjoyed their many unique sauces that they had available for their Mussel Dishes. We visited Chez Milot on August 11/22 and were very pleased to see a much renovated establishment with a new varied and diversified menu offering many Table d 'hote offeings Confit Canard duck , Veal Liver, beef with a Peppercorn Sauce, Filet of Sole, Pork in a Dark Beer Sauce, Linguini Carbonara, 7 oz Bavette of Beef, Beef Tartare, Rack of Lamb...and yes, 5 Mussels dishes with different broths. For appetizers, my wife took a Borsch Beet Soup, daughter took the soup of the day and I chose an unbelievable escargot snail dish with garlic and mushrooms in a sort of light gravy. IT WAS TO DIE FOR. For main courses, my wife took the duck confit, my daughter had the beef bavette, and YES, I TOOK A QUART OF MUSSELS IN A PROVENCIAL TOMATO/GARLIC BUTTER SAUCE . This dish was AMAZING. The sauce was so rich you could see a layer of Garlic Butter floating on the Tomato/wine sauce . Best meal i 've had in quite awhile. We split a version of a Sugar Pie and a piece of Hazle Nut Mocha cake for dessert. Both were fresh, delicious and a reasonable size of a portion. The wine list was small , but diversified and covered the spectrum of tastes that would accompany their menu items. We were warmly greeted at the door by ERIC , and once he heard me speak English, immediately changed from French. This was appreciated, but not necessary in or case, since all three of us are fluently bilingual and quite comfortable in ordering off a menu en francais. Our waiter, Benoit was from the old days; interesting, chatty, humorous and very attentive. I MISS THIS SORT OF SERVICE SO MUCH IN THIS SO CALLED NEW AND ENLIGHTENED world we now live in. Overall this restaurant is a GEM. We highly recommend it to all Laurentian visitors. Food, Atmosphere, Service, Location are all above average and you will not be disappointed, in our opinion.
