This place is one of my favorites parts of coming home to San Augustine. I’m in the military and i can’t wait to get home to get their Kolaches. Just got home and can’t wait to get more.
I am a good candidate to write this review becuse I use to work at a donut shop in Dallas Texas Happy donuts is centrally located in the heart of San Augustine. You can't miss it because it's on the main road by the light. The building appears to be a little older. Inside there is seating if you would like to stay a while. I liked the fact that happy donuts has a drive through! I wanted to go inside and get pictures for this review. The young lady at the front was very friendly and working hard helping customers. In the donuts case you have a pretty good selection. Glazed, chocolate, chocolate with sprinkles, chocolate with coconut, chocolate with nuts, cinnamon twist, Apple fritter, Strawberry filled, lemon filled. They have breakfast sandwiches, that have Baccon and eggs or you can choose one with cheese. Maybe you like sausage in your breakfast sandwich. There was breakfast burritos/tacos too. I am not sure whats inside but they look fresh! The koliachs seemed to be popular. They have Spicy and regular they both have cheese. I think having boudin koliach sets them apart from other donut locations. For my breakfast I chose 2 jalapeno koliachs, 1 spicy boudin koliach, 1 lemon filled donut and a chocolate milk. I have to say it was REALLY good My favorite was the boudin koliach. The bread is sooooo soft. The koliach had the perfect amount of spice. Honestly I really wish I had purchased another one. The Lemon filled donut was my 2nd favorite. The donut was super soft and fresh. I liked that there was a lot of filling. Most donut shops do not put enough filling in my opinion. The donut had the perfect amount of glaze. The glaze was not too thick as to be sticky or drippy. The lemon flavor of the filling was good. The filling was thick, tart and sweet. Over all I had a great experience and will be back for a boudin koliach. As always if you have found my review helpful please give me a thumbs up and you can also follow me for more Google reviews Thanks!
