When I returned them-without asking for a refund- the server/cook became very belligerent and told me it was my problem and she didn't care. Nothing even close to an apology. It was close to lunch time and the place was empty-telltale.
We stopped here for breakfast. And the service was great and the Grecian omelette was good. And the cinnamon rolls were good.
If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Upon entering, the server seemed inconvenienced by having to do her job. She didnt greet us and was overall just very rude. Once she finally sat us down, we noticed how filthy the place was. There was food stuck to the table, the silverware was dirty, and there was a cigarette butt on the floor. We ordered stuffed french toast, jr. French toast with a side of fruit and sausage, and a Sugar Burger with cheese and french fries. The stuffed French toast was 90% egg (it was literally bright yellow from egg yolk), the stuffed part was just a piece of banana in between 2 slices of bread, and there was HAIR in it. The burger patty was slimy and premade. We couldn 't even get the servers attention for another 15 minutes to explain what was wrong. While waiting for her, we watched her cough directly into the food service window over peoples food, as well is into her hand before touching someones toast. I plan on calling the health department today. This place is disgusting.
Went and enjoyed Sugar Shack this morning. Was delicious as usual. Enjoyed an ABC Omelette add jalapeños. The hash browns were cooked perfectly and crispy.
You might find the cramped dilapidated ambience cute, but it leans toward dinge and neglect and you wonder about the kitchen hygiene. The waitress, who I think is the owner, seemed annoyed and put-out by my small family. She was rude and unhelpful, with a dour look that set a serious tone of unwelcome over the entire breakfast experience. One of the kids took the lid off the water. She rushed over to put it back on. That 's why I only filled them up half way, so they don 't spill, she admonished. She thrust a finger at my menu where it states an extra charge for sharing food. No one was going to share. She jabbed her finger at it again so I 'd get the memo, just in case. No words about it, just an impatient stare waiting for the order she 'd have to endure. Argumentative with my sweet wife, who looks confused and is just trying to order. Forgot the cheese for the omelet, so the cook sprinkled some on top. He 's Greek, so he wants you to taste the cheese, she says with a warning tone of don 't you dare complain cause I ain 't going to lift another finger. Do Greeks think melting the cheddar cheese diminishes it 's flavor?.... Watched her prepare the take-out orders...slap, slop, bagged...it all seemed so grey, mean and depressing. Over $20/person! and for greasy diner breakfast. Not going back.
