Everything i ordered was delicious! the Ube Croissant, Kaya egg tart, and Guava Filled Mochi Cake will definitely be ordered again
Safely overrated. it is located in vietnam city and only open for a certain time. than the time I went there, most popular items are gone, so they keep pushing me to buy more left over objects. I really don't like the artificial food coloring they used. also I was shocking when my card didn't come through for the first time, one lady took the bag out of my hand.
We ordered almost everything on the menu and it was a huge menu lol. We heard about this place from my brother who lives in Santa Clara. My fav was the mochi cake I would def come back specifically for that. The choux were excellent and original we tried every flavor, except the durian. Every single flavor was good in its own I didn't have a favorite. According to my family, it's still good cold the following morning after a night in the fridge. I enjoyed both the pandan and Ube croissants may have eaten both in one sitting mostly by myself. My brother didn't love the Vietnamese coffee so we skipped the drinks this time around. We haven't tried the pandan coconut bread I forgot the actual name , so can't give you a good review. But it looks quite good. I can imagine eating the bread for breakfast after warming with some milk or coffee on the side. Though we really enjoyed mostly everything, I felt once the novelty wears off, it might not be something we kept coming back for. One thing I don't love, which is not specific to this establishment, is instead of having the preorder, and customers coming in to pick up to avoid the long line, they actually make you stay in line to place the order, then wait around to pick up your food which didn't take all that long. I complained about this to my family, who said this is very common because places want to show the long line. Well, maybe it worked because we wanted to order everything once we get to the front instead of ordering a few things and then reorder again before going home we had some errands to run, so it would have been more ideal to order again on the way home . But I feel the line is artificially exaggerated and once I tasted the food even though it was good, it wasn't good enough to make me feel like a letdown and made me less inclined to return. Delicious food though! The person who took the order was very nice!
I've been wanting to try this bakery, but it's a bit of a drive from the East Bay. However, my friend Gio R came over recently for dinner on a Saturday night and brought pastries from CA Bakehouse for our dessert. L. I had made dessert for us as well, but hey, more dessert the better. : I got to try the Durian Portuguese Egg Tart and one of the Choux Au Craquelin. I liked the durian egg tart, as for the Choux, the outside was no longer crispy. Choux au Craquelin really needs to eaten soon after filling. Whenever I make it at home or for a party, it usually gets eaten pretty soon. I didn't get to try the Ube Cream filled croissant. : We we're having a family party the next so my friend Gio ended up taking most of the pastries home including the Turon I had made for dessert., Glad I finally got to try CA Bakehouse's pastries. I'd be interested in trying more stuff next time we're in the San Jose area.
