The old building has been relocated to Little Italy for a reopening this late summer. Despite the temporary setup, the good times are still alive! There’s great music, good vibes, and friendly people all around. Plus, the staff is fantastic, and you can enjoy delicious cocktails, refreshing cold beers, and wine!
What a jewel of a place that took me so long to find this place! to foot from the san jose dridiron caltrain station. ae3some music venue. great food and excellent owners and staff. the first visit was on Friday and I made sure that I went back the next day and after that it was great to go next door to hear the delgado brothers in poor house bistro media
Jambalaya was delicious. Gumbo was good too. I'm filled. I'm gonna nap now.
Ok, we have heard from this place for many years and for one reason or another we had not been able to taste the New Orleans style kitchen served here. Finally 2021 fulfilled this long-term wish of our!! We wanted something different from our easier available Asian flavors here in South Bay and we have exactly what we were looking for! We ordered their BBQ Shrimp Po Boy along with one side of Poorhouse Salat and the cheese shrimps and grits served with one side of Sautéed Veggies. We loved the Po Boy absolutely!! Light fluffy crusty bread that flows with a huge bunch of fresh shrimps and with a season that I could die or kill!! The accompanying salad was also light and aromas, which from salad dressing only perfectly complements the dish! The BBQ Shrimps and Grits were also on site! We loved the grains of the grass, while the freshest fresh shrimps were so well cooked and juicy! And the accompanying sautéed vegetables really brought the best out of every morsel of Cheesy Shrimp and Grits!! And then it was gone! We are really sorry that we no longer order!!! Note yourself: order extra from Poorhouse Bistro if you get food delivered and possibly if this pandemic is under control, we need to in and enjoy the kitchen along with the ambience and music that this place is known!
Ordered blackened chicken pasta and jambalaya and their house special soup. The pasta was fantastic, the sauce was not too thick and very tasty. Jambalaya was a little bit dry so it goes well with a drink. Soup was really good and it came with some grill-toasted bread, which meant it had a bit of smoky flavor. Really good jazz outside and sitting was very accommodating for such a small place. Would definitely return!
