My first coffee there was the Golden Gate blend, which I paired with a delicious donut. When I lived near 7th and Taylor, I would often stop by for breakfast before tackling my homework or going shopping at Target. During the challenging days of the pandemic, even though the donuts were no longer available, I still enjoyed my favorite Golden Gate coffee. I will truly miss this coffee shop—it holds a special place in my heart as my first local spot in San Jose. Thank you for kickstarting my coffee adventures and being part of my college years. If I ever come across the Golden Gate Blend by Mr. Expresso, I will be sure to grab it right away!
They never let us down; it's the best scrambled eggs I've ever tasted. My husband likes his in a croissant, while I prefer mine on a bagel. The owners are wonderful people who make us feel grateful to have them in our community.
The owner, an older man with a white beard, called out for the Scrammy and then walked away from the counter. Thinking the dish was mine, I picked it up and headed to find a seat. A minute later, the owner came storming out, extremely aggressive. He pointed at my friend and yelled, "YOU! DID YOU TAKE THE FOOD ON THE TABLE?!" When I explained that it was me who took the food, he yelled and even struck a chair in frustration. The whole situation was uncomfortable and confusing for everyone around. I overheard him cursing as he went back inside, telling someone to re-bag the order. I suspect he just gave me the same sandwich again, but in a different bag. I believe I took the correct one from the start; it was clear he thought my friend had taken it, which wouldn't have been an issue if he had just checked. When I tried to explain that he had called my order, he responded sarcastically with a dismissive "Yeah, alright," as if he doubted me. It made no sense—after all, I was a paying customer. Did he really think I was trying to pull a fast one on him? It was an utterly bizarre interaction that left all of us baffled. I honestly can't see myself returning. To make matters worse, he got my order wrong! As we were leaving, he even had the audacity to ask us how our breakfast was while he stood outside smoking right at the entrance. Even if I had mistakenly taken the wrong order (which I genuinely don't believe I did), there's no excuse for treating a customer in such a disrespectful manner.
Really rude service. Front man was snappy and impolite ... didn't want to answer any questions about the menu and got mad at me for not knowing they were only serving breakfast... I just wanted a nice quick morning coffee but I ended up leaving solely bc he was just that mean lol.. How does this place have good reviews??
I would pick this place over Starbucks any day!! Great, quick service, awesome food, delicious coffee.
