The refrigerator, set at its highest setting, was only cool and never cold. The AC fan was anemic. The door had to be reset due to failing batteries. Front desk was slow to respond to all these issues. Not recommended!!
Beds are comfortable but food is so bad in the restaurant and really expensive, we landed to SJO and I thought I was in NY when they charged me 60$ for two tasteless main plates. Rooms are big and without noise. Surroundings of the hotel are a bit dodgy…
I had always wanted to stay at this hotel, the big, clean building always caught my attention, and now, I finally got my chance. I have to start with the location. It’s a bit of an odd ball out, as its close to the Sabana, but not too close. Same for Downtown. Seems to be right in the middle. Close to City Hall, Wholesale Market, and an older residential neighborhood (some commerce, not much). Still, everything is a very short ride or drive from the hotel, interesting location. Oh yes, and the hotel has free underground parking, great amenity. Check-in was super smooth; the staff was extremely friendly (specially the host at the door). Our room was ready early, all was on point. The room on the 7th floor had a nice view of the south side of San Jose and some of the mountains, it was nice. It was big and open, comfortable with good beds and pillows. Same with the bathroom, bright, big enough, great shower. The internet was a bit slow and disconnected a lot, probably the only low point to mention. I think the hotel is very eco-friendly, probably very European focused. You won’t find any carpeting, disposable items (no coffee cups, not even by request), very instructive on green policies, etc. It might be odd for an American, but its still a great practice and I see what they are trying to focus on. We hadn’t realized we had a free breakfast buffet included in our stay. And boy, it was a treat. Plenty of food, so many options. The Gallo Pinto was some of the best I have ever had. Same for the fried yucca and all the bread options. Great fresh local cheese to go with the Gallo Pinto. Good coffee too. Overall, for what we paid through a travel agent, it was a great deal. We got everything we wanted and more. Even though San José has tons of hotel options, we will defenetly consider coming back to the Park Inn.
Not very impressed. For the price you pay you can find much better options. Rooms are nothing special and felt dated, even though the hotel is newer. Pool is in an odd place and temp not comfortable. Didn’t feel safe walking anywhere (incl. inside the hotel) once it was dark.
We stayed here at the beginning and end of our Gate1 tour. The rooms were nice and clean and we had a nice view of the city. I wasn't prepared for issue with the country's antiquated septic system. We were allowed to flush in the second room we stayed in.
