El Union Coffee - San Juan

I thoroughly enjoyed my usual latte at this restaurant in Lu, which I had for three days in a row. Overall, the service was a bit slow when it came to getting food orders. While the coffee and beverages were served quickly, I had to wait an hour for a grilled cheese sandwich, and my pancakes never arrived after waiting for 1.5 hours. It was a Sunday, so I assume it was just a busy day. The owner was very apologetic and offered a gesture of goodwill. I revisited another day when the service was better, and it was worth the wait. They may need to hire more staff to meet demand, especially on weekends.

This restaurant, along with Flotsam, influences the culture of the entire city. The coffee is exceptional, the grilled cheese is unmatched in the country, and the staff and owners are welcoming to all. Five stars!
