We both ordered the national dish, which consisted of cassava, yam, green banana, corn, and other vegetables. The waiter informed us that they grow their own produce, which added to the simple yet flavorful taste of the dish. I enjoyed a delicious papaya juice and found the waiter to be very polite. The restaurant is located in a very touristy area, which is reflected in the atmosphere. The music could be improved, as it started off as muzak but improved with Cesaria Evora playing just before we left.
They don’t have any vegetarian or vegan options on the menu. They friendly offered us vegan pasta with vegetables. We got bread with nonvegan! garlic butter as a welcome gesture like everyone. The vegetables were awful!! Ready-made iglo vegetables so nothing special, no taste at all. There was no sauce just the vegetables and pasta without salt or any other seasoning. I do not recommend for vegans or vegetarians. All the guests at the other tables ate prawns, octopus, shrimps, ……
There were no vegan or vegetarian options listed on the menu, but when we inquired, we were able to get a pasta dish with vegetables. It was delicious and reasonably priced (considering it was expensive by Cape Verdean standards, but average for tourists/European standards). We received some fruit for dessert, which made us very happy. The waiter was extremely friendly and accommodating.
The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. I ordered the "vegetarian pasta" which turned out to be vegan. It was bland and the vegetables were overcooked.
Excellent eating, amazing cocktails and the most friendly staff
