The Pita Guys - San Marcos

What happened? What changed? I used to love this place! I would order the chicken shawarma plate for $12.99, and it was always generously filled. I just ordered two chicken shawarma plates for $16.99 each, and my plates were nothing like I remembered. They were mostly rice, with very little chicken.

I was thrilled to discover this restaurant! As someone with Lebanese heritage, I can be quite discerning when it comes to Middle Eastern cuisine, and this has quickly become my favorite spot. The food is incredibly flavorful, and the portions are generous for the price. The staff is friendly as well. I'm looking forward to the opening of their Oceanside location! Thank you, Pita Guys!

The restaurant has really declined. The jalapeño sauce used to be a nice blend of herbs and jalapeños, but now it's just a strange liquid. The rice isn’t fluffy anymore, either. On the bright side, the meat is still flavorful, and the cucumber yogurt was quite nice. However, they didn’t have the air conditioning on, and it was incredibly hot today. If they’re turning off the AC to save money, you’d think they would lower their prices, but unfortunately, it seems like they want to do both—raise prices and cut costs by turning off the AC. I won’t be returning. Quality control seems to be slipping, and I find myself disappointed every time. It’s reminiscent of Chipotle; it used to be great, but each visit has become increasingly disappointing.

This place always offers great value. The large salad is so generous that it's definitely too much for one person. With so many topping options available, it can be tough to choose just a few. The counter service is incredibly fast, and the staff are very friendly and personable.
