La Tre Vietnamese Catering - San Mateo

I reached out to this restaurant using their catering inquiry form and was told that they do not deliver to San Francisco. I understand that. I then inquired if they could deliver to South San Francisco, where I work, and mentioned that I could pick up the tray of sandwiches myself. They confirmed they do deliver there, but stated they prefer their food to be served fresh. I straightforwardly asked if they were interested in the business, and they replied with a 'no.' So there you have it. With so many choices available, don’t settle for subpar service. I went with Dinosaur, and I recommend you do the same!

I've been using La Tre for over 10 years, and I can confidently say that Marcus has always been professional and the food has consistently been excellent! They've grown so much that they've closed their public restaurant to focus solely on catering. They are a preferred vendor for Genentech, and they always deliver on time, ensuring that the food is a hit with everyone. Be sure to book early because they are extremely popular. If you wait too long and can't get a reservation, it just proves how great they are! Don't be frustrated—plan ahead!

As some others have noted, this restaurant appears to be quite selective about its clientele. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a shot since San Mateo isn't far from Redwood City. I reached out to Marcus via email, and we confirmed that I could meet the $500 minimum requirement. However, he informed me that the date I wanted was already booked and mentioned the hope of collaborating in the future. I then provided him with a future date, and he visited the venue to discuss a proposed menu. After I followed up with him, he suddenly claimed that my location was outside their service area. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

I am with Genentech and love their food catering service. Healthy and not too rich, not too oily. Love it.

This is hands down one of my favorite caterers. Their one item that I never get tired of and can never get enough of is the SHRIMP TOAST. Bless those little morsels of perfection that throws my tastebuds into wild ecstasy. The shrimp is so savory and flavorful and the baguette a prime carrier for such deliciousness. The BANH MI from here is excellent too. The sandwiches are small so one is definitely not enough! They are generously filled with meat and veggies and can be quite spicy with jalapeí±os. The bread is also not too thick or hard to chew. One thing I don't care for is their salad which I think is unnecessary and doesn't even need to be on the menu. It's layers upon layers of iceberg lettuce topped with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and diced mint. There's just nothing special or even particularly healthy about it.
