Rise Woodfire San Mateo

Located right on the train station, can see trains come and go, lots of open air outdoor seating, a big plus. Love the ambience, unfortunately, the food was average. Our pizza was burned a lot on the bottom, tasted bitter. The meatballs were barely warm. The cornbread was not very good, I've had much better ones.

Great service and food equals a happy, satisfied customer! We went here after a performance and had a group of 12. Despite having no prior reservation, they were quick to accommodate us. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with the Christmas decor, while also maintaining a modern-feel. There was plenty of seating with different dining areas. As for the food, pizzas were delicious along with the salads. Of the pizzas I tried, they were the Ham, Roasted Pineapple, andJalapeño pizza and the Artichoke and Spinach pizza. The crust was soft and chewy, and the ingredients were evidently fresh. They also gave us a free pizza ? the Smoked Pancetta and Yukon Potato pizza. Great experience and will return!

Wow... We went to Rise with high expectations set by other reviewers and it blew past it all. Modern yet cozy atmosphere, fabulous pizzas, great beer selection and friendly staff. What more can you ask for? Has a bit of an industrial feel with plenty of wood and this gives the modern cabin feel. Utensils and dishware are all new and they complement the interior. All of this adds to a crisp and modern pizza experience which they deliver on. Food comes out blazingly fast andwe just had an amazing time. Couldn 't ask for more.

When we first arrived at 6:00, we were seated in the indoor Patio . There were only 4 -5 other parties seated in this room, and it was rather quiet. By 7:00, the room was full and it was so loud that my dinner partner and I could no longer have a conversation. The food was very good, but next time we 'll order take out!

Food there is really good. The cornbread is tasty. Meatballs are mouthwatering. Cobb salad is both delicious and big portion. The only thing is the ribs are little overdone and dry. Because the location is right next to the Caltrain station, it was quite loud at times whenever the train went by.
