Subway - San Mateo

This was by far the worst Subway I've ever visited in the country. The employees exhibited extremely unsanitary behavior, using their phones and putting on gloves without washing their hands first—absolutely sickening. The tables were filthy, as if they hadn't been cleaned in ages. To make matters worse, there were roaches crawling all over the place! I will never return and have warned all my friends and family in the area to stay away from this location. They seriously need to hire an exterminator and learn how to keep the place clean.

This restaurant has recently been renovated—definitely worth a visit! The atmosphere is upbeat and minimalistic, which I really enjoy. As a vegan, my favorite dish is the Veggie Delight on a spinach wrap, and I usually skip the dressing. However, I would appreciate seeing a bit more variety on the menu for vegans.

I ordered through the app and selected my bread and add-ons. When we arrived, my daughter went inside to pick up the sandwiches while I waited in the car. On the way home, she mentioned seeing two roaches running around! I completely lost my appetite at that point. Once we got home, I checked the footlongs and found that all three had the wrong bread and weren't toasted, as I had requested. The vegetables also tasted like they had been sitting out all day. I tried calling several times, but like others have mentioned, no one answers the phone. It's probably because all they receive are complaints about poor service. This was my first visit to this location, and it will definitely be my last.

The customer service here is consistently excellent. This time, Alonzo helped me out with some great tips on roasting onions and paid close attention to my specific order. He was incredibly meticulous, making sure to arrange each tomato just right and wrapping my overflowing sandwich perfectly. This is probably the best Subway I've visited in the Bay Area. Just a heads up, they are currently undergoing some cool renovations, but they are still allowing dine-in.

Thank you for having a location in San Mateo. I visit regularly and will keep coming back. The staff here is fantastic and consistently manages to handle the busy rush hours with great determination. I really appreciate all of you!
