You don't get THAT many chips but it's a nice touch. OG was my pick here here. I'm sure you can find better bahn mi sandwiches but there's nothing wrong with anything they're serving here. FYI watch out for the hot green pepper they include with the sandwich it might take some people by surprise.
We went here to get some banh mi as we were nearby and saw that it was the only place in that part of San Mateo. We had the #1 and #2 sandwiches. Service was prompt Sandwiches were average. I know the owners are vietnamese so the only reason why the banh mi are this way is they have to cater to their customers non vietnamese who don't know any better and probably can't handle the authentic ingredients for truly authentic vietnamese food. And they charge $11 for banh mi. I understand inflation, yadda yadda, but damn, i ain't paying that for a average banh mi that is so watered down, a San Mateo hipster can eat it.
Update: Vegan pho has been brought back! Owners mentioned it was by popular request, and they also have a spicy noodle soup that's vegan. Happy to hear it's made a comeback. Old review: Unfortunately they no longer do vegan pho but don't seem interested in updating their banner or menu to reflect that. Bahn mi is only vegan with mayo removed, and so it's quite dry. Isn't the worst meal in a pinch but generally a bit disappointing. Updated from previous review on 2023-04-30
This place serves THE BEST tofu banh mi i’ve ever tasted. i’m not vegetarian but their flavors makes it easy to skip the meat.
Amazing banh mi sandwiches! And the little bag of chips is always appreciated : This is our go-to place for banh mi since we haven't found anything else on the peninsula that compares. The location is great for picking up food and then eating in Central Park.
