This was my first time trying ramen, and I am glad I came here – the food was absolutely delicious! The Kiwami Vegan ramen was flavorful and rich, and the plant-based protein had a lighter texture compared to other mock meats I have had. The service was friendly and provided exciting suggestions for experimenting with their sauces and toppings in the future. I will definitely be returning.
There are a few good options for vegan broth at this restaurant. I ordered the Kiwanis vegan dish with faux meat (baked with eggplant). The noodles and broth were tasty and there was a generous amount of toppings. The faux meat was decent, but I found the broth to be slightly grainy about two-thirds into the bowl. I'm not sure what caused this texture issue (perhaps it was thickened with something).
My companions and I were craving ramen and were pleasantly surprised by the offerings at Ramen Hajime. We sampled the vegan Caravan appetizer (featuring flavorful and juicy roasted chicken) and the Kiwami vegan ramen. The broth, made with curry soy milk, was delicious and complemented the egg-free noodles, plant-based meat from Japan, aubergine, bok choy, green peppers, pickled red cabbage, and yuzu. We both agreed that this was the best ramen we have had in years, and by far the best in the Bay Area. The aromas were wonderful and they cater to vegans as well.
First thing I noticed was how well prepared the meat is here. All meats. The karage was excellent. The cha shu also excellent. And the pork butt was excellent. Even the egg was excellent. The broth was good. The noodles were the right texture and soft. The tonkatsu broth was decent. The meat was sliced so thin though, so not much substance. You put your name on a wait list when you arrive. Not a very large place so it can get quite busy. Quick service though.
I believe this restaurant price is the best ! Simple one only $10, less topping but still come with 2 pcs chashu. Owner said because for Japanese , they more care about noodle quality than other like topping , so they create $10 simple one for Japanese .We order signature one , shoyu one inside come with 3 pcs wontons so delicious !
