We tasted Bolo Do Caco, Madeiran speciality, for the first time at this small seafront kiosk. Don't think that we could have chosen a better place to try this local bread. The kiosk is situated by Praia da Fontinha, behind the Estatua O Barqueiro (Statue in honour of the Fishermen) in Vila Baleira. We selected the cheese and bacon filled option, smothered in garlic butter it was so delicious. We shared one between us, it was enough, could not have managed a full one each. The young guy and the woman who ran here were delightful, friendly and made us most welcome, we did visit more than once and they recognised us. What a great place to sit, enjoy this freshly prepared scrumptious food, in the sunshine, with the statue of the Fishermen, Cais do Porto Santo (Pier) and the sea in front of us. Ideal spot for people watching. Our chese and bacon Bolo Do Caco was and for a coffee, so for the lot, great value. It was interesting to sit and watch the the Lady, in the kiosk, kneading and forming the breads. A minute walk from our accommodation, Hotel Pestana Porto Santo, along the beach was well worth it to sit and have lunch here, loved it we did walk back to the hotel via the road.
