Coyote Cantina - Schererville

We've visited this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed the excellent food and great service. However, this time was different. We had made a reservation through OpenTable, and when we arrived, a girl opened the door and informed us that the restaurant is permanently closed.

The waitress was very unobtrusive and didn't offer us any options for our menu items. We had to ask another server for assistance during our meal. The menu listed ceviche made with crab meat, but what we received was actually made with imitation crab. It took a long time for us to receive our orders, and the waitress was somewhat abrasive. While the food was delicious, the numerous negatives of this establishment far outweigh that one positive. I will not be returning.

Our dining experience was wonderful, with attentive and knowledgeable service in a beautiful setting. Then the monsoon hit suddenly. We moved to a sheltered area, and the staff graciously welcomed us to stay as long as we needed, closing the restaurant to new diners. Their warmth and sense of humor made the evening truly unforgettable!

Love the food! We do not live close, and found this restaurant last year, so we decided we needed to go back this year. Highly recommend.

Excellent “Fire” cocktail and fundido to start. My daughter and I shared the La taquiza #1:four tacos of your choice (we picked a Ropa Vieja taco each, one fish and one carnitas. Very flavorful on good, fresh homemade corn tortillas that did not get soggy. It comes with 2half elote pieces- Sweet, crunchy, with good salty spiced coating; and one chicken tamale. The tamale was a bit too well done. A little hard for my taste. We finished with churros.4 thin crisp tubes with chocolate and raspberry dipping sauces. Very heavy cinnamon coating. Mixed reactions from the table. I will definitely go back for drinks and dinner!
