Restaurant a la Couronne - Scherwiller

My daughter and I came here for a light meal on a Tuesday lunchtime. We shared a large crudités and a single tarte flambé with a small carafe of wine and a soft drink. The bill was about 35 euros which represented very good value. The food was fresh and plentiful. Swift efficient service. The restaurant was full of mostly local customers. A good choice and we would return if in the area again.

I have never seen an area where every restaurant stopped serving at 13h30! This one was the first one that we found that was opened at that time. The inside area was closed but there were people sat on the exterior part. We went to the waitress and asked politely if they were still open as the others also had people but were not serving. The lady answered rudely don 't you see people eating? and we explained that we did not know which restaurants were still serving lunch at 13h30, to which she dismissed us and repeated that we could see people eating so of course they were opened. Then we asked if we could seat in one of the tables inside to which she answered that only outside was opened. In all of these interactions she was very rude and was brushing us off so we decided to go to the Boulangerie next to it. This was an example of everything you should not do in a restaurant, especially to people that are foreigners and do not know how things work, and if it was only this one treating us like this we would be fine but the other restaurants in the area had the same rude attitude.

We had an excellent lunch in this cosy Alsace style restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. Many reasons to come back.

We were 4 and came twice. The first evening w/o a reservation and was seated in the upper level among groups. we were warned before that it might be loud, and it was. Very unpleasant and short meal. So we made a reservation for the next day. it wasn't needed as the place was 1/2 full. Services weren't that good and we had to raise our hands several times to get their attention. The food was OK, but nothing to remember. maybe the fire on the Creme Brule which lasted for longer than expected, and the taste was ...bitter...like too much alcohol. The decoration is great and the restrooms area is exceptional, extraordinary, and worth coming only for visiting it.

Beautiful setting and great food. Service was fast and friendly. The Dolphins in the bathroom were entertaining! Parking was the only minor issue we had.
