I tried both vegan empanadas, and they were absolutely delicious! the crust was buttery and crispy and the filling was tasteful and well seasoned. I tried a few of the banh mi that my mother got, and it was one of the best banh mi’s I ever tasted! the vegan chicken was seasoned and very well cooked. eating tasted like something from a fine vegan restaurant as a bookstore café. it would be worth coming here for dinner alone! the drinks were however inexpensive. my mom and I couldn't get past a few swallowing our drinks. also there were no vegan baked goods. After eating, I looked at the books. there was a pretty choice! there were many sci-fi books in addition to the non-fiction. they had an impressive selection of books about coding. if they are interested in getting a job in coding/technique, they will keep it here. I am a computer student and I really wish I had such a bookshop near my university! if it were, I would go there to work on my coding tasks. the only thing I did not like about the book selection was that there were many books that were not technically/scientific and were only used to promote an ideological agenda. the place was certainly strongly liberally biased. it was a little strange that they have so many books on human social justice, but beside some vegan / vegetarian cookbooks, hardly books on ethical veganism or animal rights, and they sold food containing animal products despite damaging to the environment and animals. artism was strong. but these are just my two cents, I'm probably too much. I would definitely come back for the food and the books!
That's just my favorite place. delicious coffee, a good selection of tasty food, and the best curated selection of books I have seen everywhere. food, I love her handpis (iirc, two are vegan, especially second breakfast (also, great name! , but so far everything I had was delicious. one of the places I'm friends visiting!
We were created by two extremely friendly and attacking baristas who liked to answer our questions (and complimented me on my rock! . that was delicious. I had the breakfast sammy, and my partner had the (faux chorizo hash tostada. fresh, tasteful, sharp and fast. in any case worth a trip.
We enjoyed the cauliflower empanada and the tofu scramble empanada. Both were served hot from a heating/warming oven. Of the two, the tofu scramble empanada was the favorite. Both had oddly sweet-tasting crusts not welcomed with a savory filling. The lemongrass tea was delicious; the coffee was just right. Staff said they get limited vegan baked goods, and they sell out quickly. Today, there was a vegan peanut butter cookie, but we did not try it. It’s fun browsing in the bookstore itself. Savory items are clearly marked as vegan; staff will identify vegan desserts as these were not marked.
