This spot is located in a strip mall setting off of US1. Upon entering, the temperature was warm, and the decor outdated. It could really use a renovation in decor and lighting. There was no movement of the air, and we were hot during our meal. It was a slow night. Only two other tables were occupied with 2 people at each other than our table. The waitress, Mi, was on her own to take phone orders, wait on tables, and work the kitchen. She said the Owner cannot afford to hire any help, so she was overwhelmed and being by herself to run the entire restaurant, and in turn service was quite slow. Our waitress started to take our orders and after one person at our table had told her what she wanted to order, she said she 'd be back in a minute; she had to get customers at another table some glasses of water. About 3 minutes later, she returned to our table to take our other 3 meal orders. I 've never had a waitress stop in mid-order to go do something else at another table. This is where having additional employees in the restaurant would have lent itself to proper service. While they have beer and wine listed on the menu, we were told they do not have alcoholic drinks now; only soft drinks or unsweetened iced tea. The menu prices had gone up, and instead of updated menus, they used white stickers with handwritten prices in ink covering up the previous printed prices on their old, laminated menus. We kept hearing that Mandarin Garden has the best Chinese food in Sebastian, however we all felt our meals were just very average and did not stand out from any other place we have been for Chinese fare. The soups were just okay; the egg drop soup was a little thicker than I typically have had. Appetizers were a bit greasy. Main entrees were a little on the salty side. The fried rice was fine. We ended our meal with fortune cookies expecting a nice crunch, only to get spongy, soft, stale cookies to end our visit. It is unfortunate, but we will likely not be back unless updates are made to the interior, more staff is hired, AND they find a way to cool the place down some. It was just way too warm and made our dinner stay uncomfortable.
Love the chicken with mixed vegetables and crab Rangoon! Great soup too. Friendly waitress. Price per person: $10–20
We just moved to the area and tried Mandarin Garden for takeout. The food was very good, the person who took the order and brought out the food was friendly, and they were quick. They don't seem to have a web site or on-line menu so I ordered things we normally get from a Chinese restaurant. One of the items was Singapore Mei Fun, when I got there I took a look at their menu and didn't see it listed, but they had no trouble making it.
The food was good. The server was not overly friendly, not very impressed With her Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Features Dine in: Yes, Takeout: Yes
