This place really was something else; full to the brim with people, overflowing biscuit sandwiches, and mouthwatering pastries would be the three defining characteristics in my mind. Their coffee is some of the best I've ever had in my life, and I'd eat their pastries every morning if I could. Their signature biscuit sandwiches though proved a bit much for me; I couldn't get my mouth around them they were so tall, they were incredibly messy to eat, and the flavour was just slightly lacking. Make sure to go to the back patio when you eat here. It's past the kitchen, through the hallway that looks like you shouldn't go there, but it puts you in a beautiful wooden terrace area that's quiet and cool. Also, GET THEIR COFFEE.
I purchased two scones( tea biscuits) and a fruit pie to take home. Three items came to 15.00 . Very pricey. The tea biscuits were heavy and were dry unless you put jam and butter on them. The fruit pie didn't have a flaky crust - it was smooth and bland tasting. The filling was fruity and sweet so that was good. It cost almost 6.00. Again, pricey... and not worth that in that the crust wasn't like a pie.
We lucked into this place looking for something for lunch while wandering downtown Sechelt. Our first visit we had sandwiches on giant biscuits - they were amazing. We also had a good look at the menu, and knew we had to come back. We returned to try the eggs bennie. They were fantastic - and cooked perfectly. The hollondaise really does taste homemade, it was very nice. While we were there, we saw people eating the potato bowl (the name escapes me at the moment). So we had to come back for that.It was excellent too. Personally - the only change I would make would be to add a third egg on it. That is an option. There are options for adding various sides (smoked salmon, bacon, sausage) into the hash, but I think just adding a third egg on top would be absolutely perfect. Actually, I found it pretty perfect already, but it would extend the perfect-ness to more bites.Things to note - it does get busy, and seating is limited. Food is good, but doesn't come out quickly, so be prepared to sit and visit for a bit. If it takes a bit more time to make food this good, I'm happy to wait.
Yummy baked goods. Had the veggie pastry roll and coffee. Great sweet treats all made in the shop. Fresh daily with homeade soups too.
