The 'authentic ' central thai cuisine cooked and proudly serve here can only be enjoyed by those who has refined taste buds similar to that of Thai Royals where one would enjoy the refinement of the cuisine, freshness of ingredients, and utmost detail to every dish presented . Meanwhile to the peasants who enjoy other regional thai cuisine of the north, south and northeastern varieties step aside, Sri Ayuthaya might not be appealing at all to your taste buds. Be warned that royal style of dining might be a little pricey too (worth it tho) plan to spend RM 100 RM 200 for a group of 4. <br/ <br/ Thai cuisine is more accurately described as four (4) regional cuisines and not one, as commonly thought; Sri Ayuthaya specializes in crafting the central thai cuisine dishes hot, salty, sweet and greasy are their main components. Food eaten by central thai people mainly consists of shrimp, crab, fish and vegetables in addition to rice and meats. Also people in this region like to use spices, such as dried red pepper, onion, garlic, galangal, lemon grass, bergamot, sweet basil, and turmeric. Also widely used is coconout cream, which gives a special flavour to the food. <br/ <br/ When dining at Sri Ayutthaya the first time, selecting the right combination is important to hit the right balance of flavors and not overspend on one sitting. It is a family style of dining meaning you need to enjoy it as a group, I would recommend trying: kangkung belacan $16.90, fried long beans with chicken and belacan $16.90, clear chicken soup tom yam or tom yam prawn RM 11.90, green beef curry RM 24.90, pandan chicken 6 pieces $26.90 and claypot beancurd thai style RM 20.90. Also for drinks its important to try their signature ice blended young coconut and lychee drink RM 16.90) . Also leave some room for their beautifully crafted desserts mainly try the water chestnut RM 10.90 and Thai pumpkin Custard $10.90.<br/ <br/ My favorite dish here would be the tom yum itself tom yam prawn. This dish is simply delicious and captures the essential of central thai cuisine sweet, sour, spicy and fresh. The soup is made with a clear broth made in house, complimented with an aromatic infusion of kaffir lime leaves, chilis, coriander roots, galangal roots and a generous serving of fresh prawn. Its both aromatic and tackles the balance of flavors perfectly. The soup just like its other dishes is presented in a beautiful thai colored porcelain and garnished ever so perfectly with fresh ingredients. <br/ <br/ They do have street parking and a private lot upfront, which makes it utterly convenient and it is FREE. My recommendation is to come around lunch time (12 2PM), when they are least busy, or early dinner (around 6PM) to avoid large crowds. Everything from their royally crafted food, to their splendor rich decor of wood, glass and even a waterfall complete with thai pond is truly opulent at Sri Ayuthaya. Its a destination for people who enjoy the truly royally rich thai cuisine of central Thailand.
