Sapelo Hammock Golf Club

I live local and this course is going downhill fast. It’s unfortunate because the course is usually in nice shape and fun to play. Played here on a Tuesday at 3:30pm. Online rate said $51 for 18. When we got to the counter the gentleman said $64. When questioned he said “yeah that’s just how the system is”. Last time I checked 3:30 is twilight hour for most clubs. Not at Sapelo Hammock because they charge only 5 dollars more to play on Sunday morning. Carts had to be in by 7pm, which gave us about 3 hours to play all 18. I asked the employee if we could have separate carts so that we could play faster and make sure we got through all 18 as fast as possible (the course was dead at this hour) he informed me he would have to charge me an extra $25 and he said “yeah they are trying to rake in all the money they can get” Finally we get out on the course and when we get to the 10th hole they send out two employees to check (harass) to make sure that we actually paid for 18 holes. Also if you go to the range on a weekday when the course is absolutely dead and want a cart to haul your clubs to the range since it’s not in a convenient location they will charge you $25 on top of the $15 it is just to hit balls. Sapelo hammock is truly a beautiful course in great condition most the year but they are very snobby and trying to be a course they are not. $64 dollars on a weekday and $69+ on a weekend with no starter so players just start when they want and there is no bev cart at all.

Loved this course! Southern charm at its best. The owners and staff were wonderful. The course was beautiful and the greens were in great shape. Our stay in the Eagles Nest above the club really completed our experience. Awesome sunsets and happy hour after golf on the patio. Cheers to S.H.G.C.!

Don't play here until they get the greens in better shape. We were charged $69+ to play here with the worst greens we've ever had to play. This is pathetic. I wish I could put zero rating. If we would have known it was in this kind of shape before we started we would have left in a hurry. Sapelo you all ought to ashamed charging any price for this. Do better please. Let people know the course status before they pay this kind of money. I'm not being allowed to add photos. It's bad

Pretty place, but greens were top dressed with sand (no price adjustment) and play was slow (no ranger). That took away from the beauty of the place. Minimal snack bar open looks like not enough staff here in general. Two ball washers on the entire course. Map on card did not have the hole numbers. Signs on tees did not have a map of the hole. It's a guessing game at times as to where the hole is.

Excellent course condition Staff was very friendly Course layout was unknown to me and there was no layout available...playing blind on some holes or it would be a 5 star
