Also on this site you'll find the outdoor Cafe Ocean Wild so this was our lunch stop all fresh locally caught seafood which was just delicious. Not a huge meal but this is made up from the quality of the seafood you receive, well worth dropping in to try.
Amazingly fresh Sea food, which it should as it com s straight from the Ocean Wild fishing Trawler in North Queensland. A great little gem of a cafe in the Artillery Museum grounds to the left as we drive in. Semi permanent kitchen and great Menu. (I included a pic for reference) Everything we saw being served looked outstanding. For our first adventure here on a short trip to Cairns we had Lobster bites. Crumbed fresh and served piping hot. Tasted delicious and very moorish. Can't go past it and want to go again when we get back up. They were so tender and succulent. The sea food was very well respected and the freshness made the experience a stand out.
As locals we love trying out all the eating places in Cairns and finding new places to add to our list; today we add our 1st pop up cafe...I had the Coral Reef with salad and chips and hubby had the Salt & Pepper Calamari with salad. The fish was very fresh, 2 pces in a very light batter (I asked for light) with chips and a lovely beetroot, apple, carrot on lettuce; a really nice change from the basic salad, the calamari was a hit and hubby also made comment of the salad. A great little place for a quick lunch, lots of choices, seafood is very very fresh and can't wait to get back and try their bugs and oysters kilpatrick and everything else....Very friendly service..Well done.
I do hope that this place is still open. We were there in March 2016 and spent a few hours at the Armour & Artillery Museum. Thoroughly enjoyed it but tired, hungry and thirsty after. Lo and behold there was Cafe Ocean Wild's caravan next to the parking area with sheltered outdoor seating. The menu was small but so nice and the quality for this type of van excellent. The proprietress was so friendly and the service excellent. I do hope it is still there as we would like to repeat this experience in March 2017
The Little Larder is a highly popular spot for breakfast and lunch due to their incredibly delicious food.
