We had a great time at the River Crab on 4th of July. The weather was spectacular so we decided to sit outside. It was perfect - the yellow umbrellas and the blue sky and water made a serene setting. Our waitress was attentive and met all our needs. The food was excellent and we hated to leave. We will definitely be back and I have been spreading the word about this place. Watching the boats on the water is a big plus. We hope to come back for a sailboat ride and lunch now that is being offered during the week.
I had made a reservation for 7:30. It was my son's birthday. We also stayed at the River Crab hotel there . We were seated at 7:45 At 8:05 No one still had come to.our table. Had to ask for water and 8:15 a boy brought us water and said he would send over a waitress. 8:30 still no waitress Got up and told the hostess to please send a waitress. 8 :40 still no one. Every waitress passed out table like we were not even there. I.was so upset that we got up and left the restaurant and went somewhere else.to eat. There were 4 of us and my son's birthday was totally ruined!!!!!. I have never in my life treated so poorly at a restaurant. I will be sure to tell my friends of the horrible service we received. NO EXCUSE FOR THIS KIND OF SERVICE!!!!!!!!!
In summary, very disappointed! We should have listened to the reviews. This place has potential, but the entrees were absolutely terrible. I ordered the potato-encrusted whitefish and the potatoes were undercooked and gross. My wife's beef medallions were overcooked. The bread and wine were good, but other than that, there was nothing great about this location. We will not be returning.
The restaurant was spacious and surprisingly quiet for its size. The tables were well-spaced, allowing for a more intimate dining experience without overhearing other patrons' conversations. This seems to be a consistent trait among Landry restaurants. However, the prices at this particular establishment were the highest we have encountered compared to other upscale restaurants, including other Landry restaurants. Our bill, totaling $128 including a 20% tip, after dining at similar restaurants in Florida for around $100, limits us to considering this restaurant as a "special occasion" destination only.
