This is definitely a great spot for lunch! The hostesses are very honest; I accidentally left my handbag on the table, and one of them, named Angel, was kind enough to hold onto it for me. They even tried to find my phone number, but unfortunately, they had no luck. I only realized I didn’t have my wallet when we were almost at the exit and found ourselves without cell service. My partner and I had to retrace our steps to make a call to the café in Soldotna, which is about 90 miles away. Angel, who served us during lunch, told us they had safely kept my handbag and were eager to contact me before we got too far. She even graciously offered to come to Anchorage (where I live) to bring my wallet to me, which I received on Saturday morning. A huge thank you to the wonderful and accommodating staff at Thymian Café!
The kona ciabatta was absolutely harmful! I highly recommend to stop here if they are looking for delicious, very cheap foods. the personal was also super nice. If I'm ever back in alaska, I'll definitely try to come back here!
The staff was rude during our visit. We arrived at 3:30 and asked if we could grab a quick bite, indicating we wouldn't be staying long. The lady brusquely replied, "To go? It says on the door that we close at 4." Her unwelcoming attitude made us feel uncomfortable. We decided to take our business elsewhere, especially since my elderly grandmother was with us and didn't appreciate the way we were treated.
As I made my way up the stairs, I had to clarify if she meant a specific table. She pointed to one, which must have been part of her earlier mumbling. Unfortunately, the flat, rude tone continued throughout my visit, which lasted less than 30 minutes, despite my efforts to keep things cheerful. I ordered their version of a BLT for $13, which felt ridiculously overpriced for what I received. When I asked if I could add turkey, the waitress agreed but didn’t inform me that there would be a $4.25 charge for some pre-packaged turkey that they added to the sandwich. The bread was dry and crumbling. While it's not unusual for Alaska to have high prices, paying $25 for a sandwich and chai latte of such poor quality left me quite upset, especially as someone who works in the community and has experience in food service. I certainly wouldn't recommend this place. The only positive aspect was that it is a charming little building.
The food is consistently outstanding, the service is always exceptional, and the owner is committed to ensuring that everyone is satisfied with their meal.
