River - Somerville

Tony c’s was full and so decided to give this place an attempt. what a big mistake. as a review mentioned, waitstaff was rude and not attentive until her friends showed up. for the price was bier tiny and the nachos were terrible. unnecessary to say would not go back and may not recommend. we went to southern kin for more drinks.

I give this place 5 stars for the staff. John at the bar is great and the servers all seem to enjoy working with each other. The atmosphere is also beautiful. My complaint for this bar is the food and menu size. It has very few choices. The attempt to offer a Bougie and Fantastic Eating Experience fails unhappy. I'll come back for a beer, but I'll eat at Earl or Salt Stone first.

Love love river bar now. I enjoy the atmosphere, sitting outside at the bar or at the fireplace. it's great, at any time. I was a few years ago and it was eh. I thought I'd give it another chance and now I'm going back. eating is good. the drinks are amazing. sarha, the bartender always greets me when she sees me, and makes space for me in her bar when I come. the manager, olivia, is very professional. I had corey and sophie as server. they are so attentive. I brought all my friends there and they love it as much as I do. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a vibe and bomb drinks and bar food.

Way over priced for what they serve. Drinks are nothing great. Ordered chips and guacamole. 2 classic Margaritas or should I say glass of ice with some margarita flavor. Hubby got a beer and chips tasted like they came out of a Market Basket bag and the guacamole had a few tomatoes in it. Nothing great. Truffle fries were reg fries with a hint of truffle flavor. Tasted like frozen fries. No one came over to ask if we needed anything. We grabbed our own silverware and napkins from the bar. I had to flag down a wait staff for my second drink. Then again to get my bill from another waitstaff. He said I can run your card for you. I said can you give me a receipt with a breakdown. Not a total you?re reading off from a scanner (good lord I?m thinking). Def will NEVER go back. So many other fun places to go around there. def not worth a 60.00 bill!!!! I used to adore River Bar. The ambiance and Frose were my favorite, but recently it hasn't been as good. The last two times I visited, the staff were impolite and seemed unhappy. I decided to go again today to treat my friend to frozen cocktails, but all we received were regular cocktails with excessive ice. Even the watermelon slush was no longer slushy. I miss the old River Bar and likely won't be returning anytime soon, which is unfortunate because I enjoy Assembly Row. (The photo I posted was of their watermelon "slush".)
