My husband and I live in Indy and LOVE the Livery Downtown Indy, so we brought my sister to the South Bend site! So we remember the Indy site, and the Mahi Mahi Tacos were the best we ever had! That's great! Come back to both places!
I have been here several times and generally avoid eating here because - although the food is good - the service level has always been substandards. This time I was pleasantly surprised, Our server was very attentive and asked questions about my allergy, so my food was properly prepared. He filled water glasses several times and came back to our table to make sure we had a good culinary experience. I wish I remembered his name, but if the more of the servers were like this young man, I could come more often!
Food was generally very good and magaritas excellent!
While the food was good, the service was not. The bartender was our server even though we were seated at a reserved table for 4 via Open Table. While this seemed sufficient but not desirable initially, once the bar started getting crowded around 6ish, it fell apart. The bartender/server took our order. We ordered several appetizers and four entrees. Even though we informed the bartender/server we, of course, wanted the appetizers PRIOR to our entrees, they all arrived at the same time. Not acceptable. The woman who delivered the food stated he placed all food orders, i.e., appetizers and entrees, on the same ticket , i.e., to come out all at the same time. Again, this is unacceptable. Appetizers, unless requested by the diner, should ALWAYS be served PRIOR to the entree. Anyone who has worked in a dining establishment should know this, and if not, needs additional training. Also, I have some food allergies and was very specific as to what I could and could not eat. Not only did all the food come out at the same time after 20 25 minutes of waiting, mine order was incorrect and contained items to which I am allergic. Again, unacceptable. Given this, I did not have any food to eat while my friends started to eat their appetizers and entrees. Further, a few finished their meal before I received my corrected order. Again....get your act together Livery! This is not the first time I have received poor service at this establishment. This is unfortunate as the food is good, and the location convenient as I have a home within walking distance. I will give Livery one more chance, but if the service remains subpar, I will not frequent this dining establishment again.
Absolutely love the food and drinks, and the place. Definitely could use more than one scallop and three shrimp in the paella though. I'd go WAY more
