Hawk Buckle - South Derbyshire

Attended private function pre ordered Indian course meal. When we came to be served they had run out of many items and the food served was cold . We were then charged each for a meal which fell well short of what we...ordered. Why ask you to pre order. Picked up a meal on the way home hate being ripped off.

We were staying overnight nearby and booked to eat here as the menu sounded amazing. On arrival I was dismayed to find that it was curry night (hubby was delighted There was nothing whatsoever on the website to say that it was only curries served...on a tuesday evening and had there been then I would not have booked as I don't like curries. My husband ordered the mutton curry which he absolutely loved and I ordered the mildest one they had and asked for natural yoghurt so that I could try and eat it (I don't do spices I'm afraid). The young man serving us was very pleasant and he agreed with us that it should be on the website to make people aware of the curry only night. Apparently it's the chef's night off and the owners wife cooks on a Tue and she only cooks curry, which is fair enough but really should be on the website. My husband was really happy with his curry and I could appreciate that the food was good if you like that sort of food, but I was so disappointed as the rest of the menu sounded amazing. Oh well if we are in the area again (not on a Tue) we might get a chance to sample something else.......

We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant. The staff was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Aman's curries were exceptional - our first taste of authentic homemade curry and they were absolutely delicious. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful experience.

Wednesday pie pint night Waited an hour after ordering pies. Only other people ordered. No one apologised or informed us of the delay even though we asked staff (when we eventually found them). Bar was like Mary Celeste! No staff...to be found. Not at all busy. One chef unable to cope with pre cooked pie meals. I’m not surprised! Left went to Steves at Etwall instead had lovely pie chips as always. Won’t go back to Hawk again wouldn’t recommend. How disappointing.

Awful experience. Complete lack of Covid safety measures. The owner's son was extremely rude. Won't be coming back.
