Contribuisci feedbackI was disappointed that the restaurant did not offer alternative milk for coffee or tea, and they mentioned that they wouldn't stock it due to shelf life issues (despite the fact that small, long-life sachets or cartons are readily available). The meals and sandwiches were a bit overpriced for their simplicity. However, the restaurant had a pleasant ambiance and my children enjoyed watching the canal boats pass through the lock. It was also refreshing to find a dog-friendly cafe, as there are so few around. The menu could use an update to cater to those who cannot consume dairy, as well as those who require gluten-free options. Having at least one gluten-free option, such as pre-packaged cakes with a long shelf life, would have been appreciated by some members of my family.
We walked here from Barrow on a nice Autumn day, we had pop and cake and sat in the tent and it was very pleasant in the sun. Lovely home made cakes too.
This restaurant has the potential to be fantastic due to its size and location, however, it was a disappointment. The atmosphere was cold and outdated, and the menu was subpar with no dietary information or options for gluten-free eaters. The staff lacked knowledge of gluten-free options and the management needs to update the menu to cater to customer needs. With a revamp and menu overhaul, this place could become a great tearoom cafe. The desserts could also use some improvement as they looked unappetizing. While the location may attract customers, I will not be returning. I hope the management will consider this feedback for improvement.
I was disappointed to not be able to go to my niece’s baby shower but not as disappointed as I was with what came home! I’d asked if I could have my afternoon tea brought back and I paid £20 for it the same as everyone else but feel I have been grossly overcharged…... Four sandwiches, a scone with jam (no clotted cream or even some butter) a pre-packed Bakewell tart and one strawberry. I didn’t even get a teabag!! The photos of the party showed their afternoon teas with macaroons, mini eclairs, mini custard slices and some sort of chocolate ball! I got NONE of these. I have added a photo, I wouldn’t pay £10 for that let alone £20….What a rip off.
Just a very unimpressive experience. Coffee was weak and tasteless, bacon was undercooked and left me feeling a bit sick all afternoon. Service was poor too, with only 3 tables in use, it would be easy to bring food to the customer, rather than fetching it from the hatch when your buzzer goes. The floured bap was fresh and tasty though, and the staff were friendly, just not trained on basic bacon/coffee skills.
