On arrival, we were asked to enter our numberplate details on a keypad next to the bar, which we duly did. Three weeks later we received a parking penalty notice in the post suggesting that we parked without authorisation on the site. The penalty is £100. This has been a most unpleasant shock as we understood that we had entered our details and therefore wouldn’t be charged. Clearly the system is flawed. This totally changes our view of what otherwise would have been a pleasant experience. It is very unlikely that we will ever be visiting this place again.
Superb service the team really went out of their way to accommodate our big group in a section of the pub (thank you Kirsty for being so amazing! . The food was lush top qual pub grub and exactly what we needed after a good walk (note they were fine with us leaving muddy shoes in a corner and padding around with socks! . All served quickly following the pre order and the team made it really easy to pay deal with the deposit. Great atmosphere too. Would totally recommend.
I went to this restaurant for dinner with my friend last week and we had a wonderful meal. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was very relaxed, and we both really liked the food. I started with the delicious arancini, followed by a lovely seafood linguini for my main course, and finished with some delightful mini donuts for dessert. Unfortunately, I left my coat in the restaurant (and I live about 40 minutes away), but the manager kindly offered to drop it off near me. You can't ask for better service than that, and we will definitely be returning.
My first time back at The Crown for years. The new management team have transformed the pub into a lovely place to have dinner. The decor is tasteful, warm and comfortable. The menu is imaginative and the food was well presented and very tasty. I had the beetroot starter followed by steak. Both were great. The best was yet to come a take on Sticky Toffee Pudding with dates, caramel sauce, ice cream and cream. Delicious. Clearly the chef has a clear vision and knows how to cook. Only one ale on offer, but it was well kept. I’d like a choice really). Service with a smile! A reasonable price too £50 pp, including drinks a service). I will be back soon and will recommend to my friends. Be sure to register your car to avoid a parking charge presumably in operation to avoid it being used as a carshare plot, given its proximity to a motorway junction). Thanks for a lovely evening!
Booked in 2 months ago at their sister pub the Kings Arms Didmarton for 5 rooms and dinner. 6 days ahead they said they were closed but we could stay on a self check in basis but no pub open and no food!!! FINALLY after a lot of effort they offered a sister pub The Crown which we reluctantly accepted! Checked in and 5 of us had dinner. Just after 10.00pm we were told the door was being locked and we were “evicted” even although our rooms were just across the car park! despite the fact that as residents we wanted another drink or coffee. The manager was called and she told us how hard she had been working and how good they had been already allowing us to drink 15 minutes after they were closing!! These people have no concept of customer service. We and our many friends will NOT be using this group EVER again.
