Our food arrived together, and the chips and salsa were fantastic. While the main dishes were decent, they were only average in terms of flavor. We found it amusing that our Torta was served on a hamburger-shaped platter. However, the way they prepared the child’s burrito was a bit unusual; instead of a traditional roll, it was served in an enchilada style with the ends left open. Unfortunately, the top-shelf Margarita pitcher had very little alcohol and didn’t taste good.
I was really disappointed with the Steak Fajitas. They were mostly just a bunch of onions, with a few pieces of bell pepper and only four very small pieces of steak. Honestly, they were the worst fajitas I've ever had. The only positives were the good margaritas and our attentive, enthusiastic server. The terrace is beautiful as well. However, our group agreed that we probably wouldn’t return since the overall experience was just mediocre. It might be a decent spot for drinks and appetizers, though.
You did an outstanding job with our wedding reception. The manager took care of everything, except for the chips and salsa, and worked extremely hard to ensure everything went smoothly. The food was delicious and served hot.
Food had good spices and taste. Eating was hot as delivered. There was a big party, so the service was a little slow. Chili reano was a little understated and crispy. Stick with beer and wine drinks were weak and watery. Apart from that, everything was good and we'll be back.
Very good Mexican restaurant, we 've eaten here many times, as we live here So. Tahoe. The portions are very ample, all is very good, right down to the tacos. Tacos are normally considered to be small, simple food, but the tacos here are fat very tasty. The prices are also very reasonable. There are many Mexican food establishments in So. Tahoe, most owned operated by Mexicans their food reflects that point. But Cantina will give them all a run for their money. The ambiance is more of a fine restaurant, not a fast food joint. The owner purchased the restaurant/bar many years ago after having established his cooking reputation as the owner/operator/Chef of Evans, a fine dining, gourmet food restaurant just down the street a bit. We 've eaten at Evans on numerous 'special ' occassions. It 's pricey, but we 'll worth it the food is notably delicious. Evan 's ability to prepare good food is evident at Cantina as well.
