Rita's Italian Ice - South Windsor

Frozen custard is richer, thicker, creamier, and more delicious than soft ice cream. They offer a variety of flavors for their Italian ice cream, including lemon, raspberry, cherry, mango, strawberry, pineapple, and even dragon fruit—such fantastic options! It wasn't crowded at all on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and the service was friendly and pleasant.

The last time we visited, they didn't have chocolate available, and their machine was malfunctioning. We had hoped things would be better today, but now it's 3 PM on a Saturday and the shop is closed. We won't be coming back again. This has been a frustrating waste of our time. It's hard to believe they can operate a business this way.

The customer service was attentive, courteous, and professional. The food was excellent.

Absolutely love Rita's and I will drive 30 miles out of my way to have it. This was our first time at this point and it was the WORST Rita's, on which I was always for 3 reasons: The interior smells very strongly from cleaning products. As soon as we had ordered ourselves, we had to go, it was terrible. I went a second time a week later and the smell was the same. My children had large pieces of inflammatory ice in their Italian ice cream. There was also no special taste of custard, only vanilla and chocolate. All in all were very friendly staff and the desserts were still mostly phenomenal.

The vanilla frozen custard is great. It's not like other soft serve ice cream. The frozen custard has a creamier texture and enhanced flavor. I go out of my way to get some frozen vanilla custard.
