Neptune - Southend-on-Sea

I fancied one if those dirty burgers from a caff and this place did not disappoint. The burger tasted home made and was massive. My wife opted for chips and gravy which were also lush. I 'm surprised at some of the comments on here. It is what it is. It 's Southend not Richmond upon Thames. Great pitstop for families.

Prices have gone up as expected but quality not as good as it used to be. Luckily we had finished our food when we saw the young blonde waitress looking in the mirror picking her spots and the older man who I assume was the owner saw her do this and not say anything just shrugged his shoulders when this was mentioned Do not recommend

My partner and I dined here after the fireworks, we was seated almost immediately, our order was taken and the food was served in a timely manner, food was fresh, hot and delicious. My partner and I were trying to have a conversation and it become clear it was going to be impossible for us to talk, loud loud people shouting not talking to each other across the tables many times I had to ask my partner what he said as I could not hear him. If you want a quite meal this is not the place for you.

Five of us came in for dinner before the fireworks about 7pm. Waitress took ages to come over, when she did, she got her pad out her lighter fell in the table. Nice start. Then, we ordered… well, the kids fish and chips had about 12 chips, the adults about 20. The fish size was the smallest I’ve ever eeen… £2 for the smallest jug of curry sauce which wasn’t even warm! My daughter found a dead fly in her chips, so I went to see the manager… he took one look at said ‘what do you want me to do about it’?, I kid you not. Appalling. He sent another bowl of chips over. We paid the bill, I checked it as I was waiting m, they’d charged me for 2 extra portions of chips!!! Now I’m not hard up for £7, but I was fuming so I complained got my money back. Wouldn’t touch this place with a barge pole… waitresses were really rude disinterested, complete waste of money. Go elsewhere!!!

Always reliable quality and service. Good selection and excellent value from this family friendly fish bar.
