O Monte - Southend-on-Sea

Went here for breakfast this morning and enjoyed itStarted to get busier after we arrived and seating is limited.

Visited with some work colleagues for a birthday lunch and we had a fab time. We were served by Maria and Susana and both were attentive, polite and always smiling. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the half francasinha as I knew that this was a very filling dish and I still felt really full afterwards. My two colleagues also struggled o finish their food. The portion sizes are such good value for the price paid. The desserts are also homemade we had the flan which been made only that morning really delicious. They heard we had a birthday on the table and so one of the flans came with a candle and the staff sang happy birthday so nice of them to go this extra mile.

I'm not a particular fan of Portuguese food but my wife and friends are and they enjoyed the fish and meat dishes they had (apologies for no names or descriptions which all come from a deceptively large kitchen compared to front of house space. It usually has a lot of Portuguese speaking customers so the food must be authentic. They are licenced and offer a decent selection of booze and there is a small deli area selling Portuguese dry goods and cakes. This place has quickly become a favourite of mine.
