Salt And Vinegar - Southend-on-Sea

Really impressed by my first order placed. We ordered two 1/2 Pounder Cheeseburger and Chips. The food was cooked and delivered within 15 minutes, including two drinks was under £ 15.

Excellent food and great service. The amazing thing is that they use various oil for their chips and meat products, which is good when you have diet requirements. Prices are reasonable for what you get and huge portions. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area

Thought I'd do my bit to support a local business and buy my fish and chips from here instead of from my favourite chippy. Saw loads of 5 star reviews which made me think it would be worth trying. However... I was unimpressed: shop was EMPTY on a Saturday night. Average, bland tasting food. Cod was large but thin. Chips: small handful of burnt ones among some very pale, anaemic looking crispy ones. Not enough salt and vinegar on it to add flavour, so I added more at home. Still not a massive improvement funny aftertaste...slightly bitter? Good fish and chips SMELL like fish and chips. These? Very little aroma. Also couldn't help but notice huge patches of dust and cobwebs in the corners of the shop's ceiling someone needs to give the place a good clean! Sorry, S&V, I won't be buying again from you.

Absolutely disgusting, food swimming in oil, chips barely cooked, mushy peas were basically just water, I ordered online and with my husband went and collected it When we got back home I found out part of the order was missing. When we finally got an answer on the phone there was no apologies and the one in the shop just said I had to come back to collect rest of order even though they advertise a delivery service, and I could have something else free, I had to remind him about that when I went back and he had the cheek to look as though I was wrong to request what he had offered Also when I did get back the shop was empty except for a man standing up at the bar knocking back at least 2 glasses of what appeared to be whisky even though this is during the lockdown and it is meant to be take away only I'd have given a 0 star rate if I could or a minus rate Don't bother going here you'll be wasting your money

I was there with my family on Thursday. It changed the owner a few weeks ago. The service was brilliant, the fish and chips were beautiful. The dough was really crispy and the chips great! We would definitely return.
