Cornbread Restaurant Bar - Southfield

The food at this restaurant was absolutely fantastic. I savored every bite. Additionally, Chrissy Love provided excellent service. There were plenty of delicious vegetarian options available. This was a dinner meal with a price range of $10–20 per person. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere all a rating of 5. Highly recommended dishes include the fried items.

I visited this restaurant for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Although the place is fairly small, we arrived at a convenient time and were able to get a table. The cornbread was freshly made and delicious. Our waitress, Q, was excellent - very attentive and quick. I tried the gumbo and it was one of the best I've had, with all the right flavors. The smothered gravy oxtails with rice were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The fried okra, mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes were all cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was well seasoned and not too dry. My wife had the fried catfish, hush puppies, greens, and more mac and cheese - she loved the hush puppies and greens. For dessert, we got carrot cake to go and it was amazing. While the restaurant is a bit small and the dessert prices are a tad high, the food quality absolutely justifies it. We will definitely be returning, as this is the best soul food spot in metro Detroit. We went back again and it was just as fantastic. Highly recommend this place.
