Bally Haly Golf & Country Club

This is a old gem of a course. I believe its over 100 years old, so it can be short for longer hitters. The natural hilly landscape makes for uneven lies, so approach shots can be tricky. Greens are always in good shape and usually soft. The food on course is good with fresh sandwiches and bqq. You must try the fish and chips inside might be the best in town!

The course design is compact which means the fairways are close together and have hidden approaches. Can be dangerous, especially during fundraising tournaments when the course has many novice players. Seen people get hit with stray balls. The food is good and hear it's gotten better recently. With the short golf season here in St. John's you need something else to drive revenue than just golf. So they are on the right track. Worth a try.

A group of us reserved a table here for lunch last week. The lunch menu had a good variety of items, although most of us ordered the fish and chips! The fish was very lightly battered and crispy. The fries were home made and tasty. Best of all was the service which was prompt and attentive. Servers made sure to ask (several times) whether we needed anything or wanted coffee refills. It was not especially busy but I suspect would be more crowded during golf season.

I attended my husbands Christmas Social with his work Colleagues at this lovely Golf Club this year. This was a very quaint, small gathering place for small socials. The building was very clean, the atmosphere was very nice and comfortable, the staff were very pleasant, the food was excellent !

The quality of food was excellent and the service was top notch. The atmosphere was elegant and the views were very relaxing and enjoyable. The price of the food was a bit high, however the quality of the food made up for it.
