Then we stopped in to this restaurant and they were full however they found a seat inside for us. They said when a table opens up outside they can move us. I was surprised they actually did just before our dinner arrived. Very much appreciated because it was a perfect night to sit out. All severs and hostess we had were friendly. Great food! Mango salad was sooooo good!
We were four who all decided on the tacos. Crisp batter on the cod, and delicious salad-like additions. Our server, Bree was attentive. I would be happy to return.
Been here twice. Although busy, we were seated right away, no reservation. Service was great, food was delicious. Been to many of the restaurants within 100ft of this place. Regardless of the rankings on Trup Advisor, this place was the best in my opinion.
I was so excited to see lobster benedict on the menu. Then I tried it. Lobster was cold and mixed with scallions. A real lobster benefict has warm lobster, not mixed with anything. I mentioned to the waitress my disappointment and she said others have also told the chef. On the positive side, service was a 10!
This is a review of the inn vs the bar or restaurant. I will begin by stating that the room was quite nice. The exposed brick on the walls added an interesting atmosphere to the room. There was a nice couch to sit on. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows less so. The bathroom was immense, with a gigantic bathtub and a beautiful open shower. Lighting in the bathroom was not great for applying makeup, but I used the long mirror in the bedroom area which was better in the daytime, a little less great at night. Our room faced the street and we basically had a window running across the entire wall. Fortunately there were blackout drapes to block the streetlights at night. Only one tiny part of this giant window opened for air. When we first were shown to our room, it was incredibly hot as the sun was pouring in. I asked if there was any ventilation and the person showing us the room noted the small window and the bathroom fan. Luckily there was also a cooling unit which helped immensely, but we had to discover that for ourselves later that evening. Now for what didn’t work for us, and I do put the blame on ourselves for poor research. BUT I wouldn’t want anyone else to be surprised as we were. We were not aware this inn was also a bar and restaurant. We were on the second floor, above the restaurant, and with speakers from the bar just outside our window. We DID ask at the bar (where you check in) if it was going to be noisy, noting that we hadn’t realized the inn was also a bar. The young woman said only room 205 was noisy, so we would be good. Not the case. Night one, a Wednesday, we were awoken by the thump of a bass speaker which lasted until 1:40AM. Night two, it lasted until 2:30AM. Night three, a Friday, we fell asleep about 11:30 after a busy day of hiking and sightseeing only to be awakened 45 minutes later. We were then awake until 3:00AM when the music ended. We did ask about the possibility of changing rooms for our last night there as we were fairly exhausted, but were told they were fully booked. So we lasted the fourth night, which was much the same as the night before. As I said, we are to blame for not checking into this inn more carefully. But as 60 somethings who like to put in a full day of exploration, have a nice dinner, and go to bed by 11:30, this was not the place to stay. In hindsight, we should have gone elsewhere after the first night, but we didn’t. I’m sure someone who loves to make the rounds of the many lively bars until closing time might find a stay at Blue on Water much more pleasant. I just want people like ourselves to know what they might experience.
